The state is known for receiving a high amount of precipitation - a large part of which is snowfall - averaging to around 40 inches in the southern part of the state and 51 inches in the northern part, annually. When it comes to roofing systems, property owners in New Jersey are always on the lookout for something that can tolerate both humidity and excessive snowfall, while sustaining the minimum possible damage. They also tend to seek good aesthetics, and press a high curb appeal. Asphalt shingles, tiles, flat roofs, metal roofs and wooden shakes all feature among the popular ones in this state - each having its specific advantages, requirements, level of affordability, and of course aesthetic appeal. Asphalt shingles, for instance, are fairly inexpensive, require less upkeep, and have a medium aesthetic - unless they are custom-built. Tile roofs are high-cost but low in upkeep, and are beautiful aesthetically but don't come with a lot of variations.
